ACIM Manual for Teachers

A Course in Miracles (ACIM), written by Helen Schucman, is a self-study spiritual work that teaches the principles of forgiveness. It is made up of three books, the Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers. There are also two supplements to ACIM, "Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process, Practice" and "The Song of Prayer", which were scribed by Helen herself as extensions of the Course.

In order to study ACIM, students must first read the Text and workbook. This will help them understand the lessons, which they then apply in their own lives. After they are able to successfully perform the exercises, they can move on to the Manual for Teachers, which helps them become more proficient in teaching the Course.

The Manual for Teachers is not intended to answer all questions that both teacher and pupil may raise, but it does cover a number of the more obvious ones, in terms of a brief summary of some of the major concepts in the Text and Workbook. It is not a substitute for either, but it is a helpful supplement to both.

For a person to be able to become a successful teacher of the Course, they must have had experience as a student. They must have had a deep personal understanding of the Course's principles, and they must be willing to teach them. They must have an open heart and an unbiased mind.

Jon Mundy is one of the foremost ACIM writers and lecturers in the world, having been a student of ACIM since it was scribed. He is a professor of literature and has written many articles on ACIM, as well as numerous books.

He has also had a very challenging life, and this has honed his skills as a teacher of the Course. He is able to explain the Course in clear and understandable ways, and he makes his points come alive with a light touch.

He has woven in a great deal of ACIM's quotations throughout the book, but they are not just quotes; they are meaningful, carefully chosen and arranged in a logical progression that makes sense. The tone of Living is scholarly but not overly serious, with some of Jon's own personal anecdotes sprinkled in to bring the stories and lessons to life.
