About the author

The author of A Course in Miracles, Helen Schucman, claimed that the book was dictated to her, word for word, via a process she called inner dictation. The result was a self-study educational un curso de milagros program that, while it uses Christian terminology, is spiritual rather than religious in its perspective. Its underlying ontology, however, is reminiscent of ancient refrains echoing the world’s most hallowed traditions.

As the name indicates, this Pocket Edition Text volume is designed to go anywhere with the student. It is 8 x 5 and just less than 1 in thickness, making it easy to toss into a backpack, briefcase or lady’s purse, so that the student will always have today’s lesson at hand. It is also designed for rough treatment, being printed on durable paper and nicely glued with a laminated cover that resists spots and staining.

The only editing that has been done to this great spiritual classic is the correction of occasional typographical errors and the rendering of capitalization and punctuation consistent throughout. For the most part, the content of the workbook and manual remains the same as the FIP version.

It is designed to be easily portable—as thin as an average paperback and just 8 x 5 ” in size, it will fit nicely into a briefcase or lady’s purse. It is made for rough treatment—it’s printed on durable paper, nicely glued and has a laminated cover that resists spots and staining.

The tiniest amount of editing has been done to this version of the Text and Workbook, just enough to remove occasional typographic errors and make capitalization and punctuation consistent throughout. It is also designed to be used alongside the FIP versions of the Workbook and Manual, allowing students to compare and contrast the original content.

The only other editing that has been done to this version is to remove three of the Miracles from the list in the 1st chapter (there are 50 in the original manuscript and 53 in the FIP version). These removed miracles do not appear to be personal material relating to Helen or Bill, so their removal makes perfect sense.
