5 Things to Know Before Calling a Rehab Treatment Center

Calling an addiction recovery center is the right approach to take. But before you take that step, make sure you’re ready. Here are five things you need to know before you enroll in a program. With this list, you’ll have an idea of what it’s like to get into rehab and tips on how to prepare.
Services Offered
Not all treatment centers are equal. Some have the facility to provide residential treatment. Others only offer outpatient care. Consider the treatment you require and pick a rehab facility based on that recommendation from your doctor. Some centers also offer holistic treatment. If that sounds like something you’d like to try, then be sure to check for that when you pick a Florida treatment center. In addition, if you have co-occurring disorders, make sure you go with a rehab center that offers dual diagnosis treatment. Thinking that you’ll get your addiction treated but not your anxiety or depression will only lead to more problems. You need treatment that addresses both conditions.
Detox Services
You can’t undergo treatment unless you’ve gone through detox. The problem is, some rehab centers don’t offer detox services, or even medicated detox. Detox is when withdrawal symptoms occur. It’s also when the drug or alcohol is purged from your system. The best thing for your recovery is to pick a rehab center that already offers detox services, so you won’t have to go elsewhere.
Credentials
What credentials does the rehab center have? How long has it been around? Look at the background of the staff and doctors. What about their training? Do they have the knowledge and expertise to provide the help you need? Keep in mind that when you’re in rehab, you’re in the care of the staff most of the time. You need people who are competent and efficient at their job. It would help if you could look for feedback from other patients. That would offer insight into their experience and even include information that could help you decide which rehab facility is right for you.
Care Plan
A good care plan is always customized to the needs of the patient. Since addiction affects people in different ways, it’s important that patients have care plans designed to address their specific needs and condition. Find out if that’s the kind of care plan that the recovery center offers before you get yourself into a program. If the care plans are the same for everyone, though, that’s bad news. It means the rehab center is using the same treatment on everyone, regardless of the differences in their conditions. That would only slow down your progress. Skip that recovery center and move on to the other options on your short-list.
Aftercare
Relapse is common after treatment. Numerous patients who’ve hold out during rehab could relapse soon after they step out of the facility. Aftercare gets in the way of that, though. It offers patients guidance and much-needed support, allowing them to maintain their sobriety and improving their chances at a successful long-term recovery.
