You have probably seen books on the market selling cures for how to lose belly fat, but the real truth is there is no one pill, potion, diet, or exercise that is going to miraculously shrink your belly fat overnight.

Fat accumulates over long periods of time do to inactivity, eating habits, stress, and poor lifestyle choices. Ikaria Juice There have been instances when a low functioning thyroid or other hormonal imbalances have been the culprit, but most of the time it is the lifestyle choices that cause the imbalances leading to the accumulation of fat. However, there are proven ways to lose belly fat when used together -here are 5.

Get sugar out of your diet. Sugar is stored in the body when eaten in excess in a number of areas; your arteries as triglycerides, in muscle, the brain, & liver as glycogen, and belly fat as adipose tissue. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you view it, the body is designed to store fat.

It stores fat as a survival mode and one way to reduce the amount stored in the body is reduce your sugar intake. Sugar is any product that you ingest that turns into sugar or glucose rapidly. This may include obvious treats such as cookies, cakes & pastries and the not so obvious breads (white or wheat), pastas, rice, crackers, potatoes (starchy vegetables), and certain fruits.

Remove empty calorie drinks. Some foods and drinks can be very tricky and unassuming as something not containing sugar. In fact, it may even state on the label that it doesn't contain sugar which is truthful, but once consumed it can raise your blood sugar indirectly. If you regularly consume alcohol and coffee in high enough amounts you can bet that it will make it very difficult for you to lose belly fat. Other drinks are more obvious such as sodas, sport drinks, and juices. Avoid these like the plague!

Eat Fat. I know this seems like a contradiction, but eating fat, the right type of fat and in moderation will help you lose belly fat. Your body has a tendency to crave salt, fat or sugar. So, when you eat fat it will help reduce sugar cravings and keep you full. When choosing your fats, focus on mono unsaturated fats such as olive oil, omega 3 fats such as fish oil, and saturated fats such as coconut oil. A teaspoon of each daily is sufficient.

Start lifting weights. One of the best forms of exercise to perform when trying to lose belly fat is resistance training. Increasing lean muscle through resistance training will boost your metabolism so you will burn more calories throughout the day instead of storing them. Also, increasing lean muscle tissue will make your body more sensitive to insulin. If your body is sensitive to insulin it helps deliver glucose into the cell where it is utilized instead of being stored as fat.

Try to reduce stress. One of your body's responses to stress is to release a hormone from your adrenal glands called cortisol. When the body is under chronic stress there is a high amount of circulating cortisol in the blood and as a result the body will go into survival mode and store fat. Also, cortisol stimulates your liver to release glucose or blood sugar, and high blood sugar is bad if you're trying to lose belly fat.
