A dining room, like the kitchen, serves as the focal point and heart of the home. It's a place where you can unwind and spend quality time with family and friends. The dining bar is the room's focal point, where we share hearty meals and laughs. It's only natural to desire a place that is both comfortable and stylish at the same time.

Is your dining room looking a little drab? If this is the case, there's no need to panic and start planning a comprehensive room remodel; your space may simply require some new design ideas.

The dining table, whether it's a typical rectangle, a square, or even a circular table, is the focal point of any dining room. You might begin by considering some tabletop decor ideas from the following list:
1. The dining table's centrepiece
Even when the table is placed against a wall on one side, it remains the focal point of the room. The same is true for the centrepiece on the dining bar; the tones and shape of the centre item should be carefully chosen because it is the first thing the eye will notice. The shape and size of the centrepiece are determined by the type of table on which it will be placed and the aesthetics desired.

Choose rich colours like crimson and lush greens for a classy design, making the colours pop while still maintaining their subtle nature.

The colour of a centre vase or the flowers might be paired with your patterned drapes to bring the space to life.
2. Use a decorative tray to dress up your table.
If you have wall art beside the table, you can combine the colours or patterns of the paintings with the little décor elements on the tabletop. Remember not to scatter the pieces around; instead, group them on a dish or tray to preserve their uniqueness. You can do it over a wooden eating bar, with the dish placed to the side or in the centre.
3. Prints and the table's colour scheme
Use botanical-inspired designs for the covers and plates to add mood and charm to your table. Even if the rest of the room is muted and white, colourful and adventurous crockery can be used. If you don't care for patterns, grey-based neutrals go well with leather and stone, so keep that in mind if you have a marble dining table. Different textures, such as a woven runner, can also be used.
