In school you don't necessarily learn how to perform specific tasks but you learn how to learn. If you can be educated on how to approach a situation, analyse it and successful execute a solution you never need to be taught how to do specific tasks. You will always be able to successfully research the task and teach yourself. Most people don't start jobs with the skills they need to perform a job, but they lern those skill in the first few month of a new job.
