Would love it to be more sexy "one night stand"! But I still liked it a lot!. One Last Chance is an alright little visual novel. + The art style is nice on the eyes, though combining anime character art with filtered photo backgrounds was an odd choice. + The in-game music was fine. While the songs were nothing particularly special, they did fit the scenes well and didn't make me want to turn the sound off. ++ The voice acting, for the scale of the project, was actually rather good. All of the voices were pleasant, and I didn't notice any off inflections. + The story, while really short, was alright. The game hit all the obvious story beats, but is also didn't do anything particularly wrong. - However, while the story was perfectly fine, most of the endings were not. In some of the endings the characters didn't act as they probably should have. Others were just annoyingly cryptic to reach, causing me to have to look at a guide to get all the endings. -- After each ending you are given the credits, and its the worst thing in the game. The song that plays in the credits has vocals preformed a vocalist who cannot sing very well. She's not the worst singer I've ever heard, but that still does not mean that the song pleasant. This would not be a big deal if you could actually skip the credits. Even if you manage to glitch the game and get the menu open so you can load a saved game, the credits just stay overlaid on the screen you loaded to, making the music in that screen overlap with the credit's music. So, every time you get an ending, be ready to either sit there for a few, or close and reopen the game. While the game does have issues, these issues do not make the game unplayable. If you have four bucks and the game seems vaguely interesting to you, I'd say go for it. However, I would not suggest buying the sound track. There are only seven tracks in the entire game. Six of them are just some piano/guitar that, while nice in-game, I would not listen to in my free time, and one of them is the credits song.. This is a boring garbage fire. So much wrong here It pains me. From the stupid opening, the horrible VO work, the lazy art, the horrible story and the worst end credit ever. I hated this VN. Don't buy this. Run. Maybe it's because I've played quite a few VNs from the same group by now, but I've been experiencing some serious dja-vu while going through this visual novel, despite not having started this one before. (I was half-tempted to re-install the other VNs for comparison's sake but I couldn't be bothered in the end. The artwork of the characters is nice, but the backgrounds are, as expected, just pretty pictures with a filter effect. I have a hard time telling whether the voice actors are professionals due to the switches in character volumes even for the very same character speaking at a time. (Though perhaps anime has spoiled me into thinking that this would have to be the lower end of the professional spectrum when it comes to bringing a character to life.) Sometimes the voices were louder than the background music (which is what I set it to), and sometimes they were muffled out somehow. The ending song, while beautiful, does also not give off a vibe of production value.. Plot: You are a male character, which I don't mind being female. It is really cheesy, but I think cheesy is kind of cute =) I wish there was more to it, it took me about half an hour to play through, I do like short novels but not for this price. And I wish I could connect to the character more, more backstory to WHO you are. I know it really tried through dialogue, but maybe a little more would really help. Voice Acting: The lady in the beginning the receptionist, her voice is cute =) I know my voicing was dramatic, and it was done to suit the theme, like in anime (which I am used to VA anyway) Visual Novel = Drama :P Music: Yes. I love the music, soundtrack suits the scenes, but I wish there was more variety. Worth 3.99? Eh. 6/10 I'd try it. 6 endings.. this game only has one story line.
